Chicago White SoxvsBoston Red Sox
CHW 11/BOS 12
Things to say
The Red Sox edged the White Sox 12-11 in 13 innings at Fenway.
01
opener
Man, that one was a slog. Thirteen innings, 12-11, Boston finally walks it off. Both bullpens were running on fumes by the end.
02
key player
The heart of Boston's order carried them all night — kept putting up crooked numbers when they needed it. That lineup just doesn't quit.
03
hot take
Honestly the Sox manager went to the pen way too early. You've got a starter cruising and you yank him? That's how you end up in the 13th.
04
deep cut
Chicago left the yard early and still couldn't hold it — their OBP was there all game, they just couldn't close the door with two outs.
05
exit
Anyway, getaway day tomorrow, so we'll see if either bullpen has anything left. Should be a good one.
The recap
This one went the distance and then some — thirteen innings at Fenway before the Sox finally put it to bed 12-11. Both bullpens got torched, and you could tell the managers went to the pen too early because there was nobody left by the end.
The White Sox kept clawing back, tying it up late and dragging Boston into extras, but the home crowd got their walk-off. Getaway-day baseball at its messiest, and the Red Sox will happily take the win however it came.
