Chicago White SoxvsDetroit Tigers
CHW 9/DET 5
Things to say
The White Sox beat the Tigers 9-5 on the road at Comerica Park.
01
opener
Sox jumped on Detroit early and never really let off. Nine runs on the road, that's a getaway-day beatdown. Tigers just couldn't answer.
02
key player
The heart of the Chicago order carried it. Couple guys got into their stuff and left the yard. That lineup's been quietly heating up.
03
hot take
Honestly Detroit's manager went to the pen too early and it snowballed. Once that bullpen door opened, the WHIP told the whole story.
04
deep cut
Sneaky thing was the Sox working counts all night. High OBP, wore down the starter before he could go seven.
05
exit
Anyway, Tigers are under .500 now. We'll see if they bounce back next series.
The recap
The White Sox went into Comerica Park and put up a nine-spot to knock off the Tigers 5-9, and honestly it wasn't as close as the score makes it look. Chicago's bats got going early and the heart of the order kept the line moving all afternoon, while Detroit's staff couldn't find a clean inning to slow it down.
This was one of those getaway-day beatdowns where the visitors just piled on and never let up. The White Sox climb to 63-58 and keep looking like the team that wants it more right now.
