Dallas WingsvsWashington Mystics
DAL 92/WSH 96
Things to say
The Washington Mystics beat the Dallas Wings 96-92 at home.
01
opener
Mystics took care of business at home, 96-92 over Dallas. Wings hung around all night but couldn't get the stop when it mattered. Good win for Washington.
02
key player
Shakira Austin was a problem — 27 and 13, just ate them up in the paint all game.
03
hot take
Dallas has the better record but they play down to teams. That loss is on them, not Washington.
04
deep cut
Jessica Shepard quietly stuffed the sheet — 22, 11, and 7 dimes. Nobody else on Dallas showed up like that.
05
exit
Wings gotta clean it up quick, they've got no cushion in that standings race. Anyway, we'll see if it sticks.
The recap
Washington took care of business at home, holding off Dallas 96-92 in a game that stayed tight all night. Shakira Austin was the story, going for 27 and 13 and eating up the paint on both ends while carrying the Mystics down the stretch.
Jessica Shepard did everything she could for the Wings with a 22-point triple-double flirtation, but she couldn't get enough help. Dallas takes the L on the road despite the better record, and Washington keeps clawing up the standings.
