Wyoming CowboysvsColorado State Rams
WYO 13/CSU 35
Things to say
Colorado State beat Wyoming 35-13 at Canvas Stadium in the season opener.
01
opener
CSU handled Wyoming 35-13 and it wasn't even that close. Hejny was slinging it all night. Border War went the Rams' way easy.
02
key player
Hauss Hejny threw five touchdowns. Five. 23 of 33, 214 yards, and he barely broke a sweat.
03
hot take
Wyoming's quarterback threw three picks. You can't win a rivalry game giving it away like that.
04
deep cut
RJ Vick quietly went off with three touchdown grabs, including a 57-yarder that broke it open in the third.
05
exit
Long season ahead, but if the Rams keep throwing it like that, they're gonna be a problem in the Mountain West.
The recap
This was the Hauss Hejny show in Fort Collins, and it wasn't close. The Colorado State quarterback carved Wyoming up for five touchdown passes, three of them to RJ Vick, who couldn't be covered all night.
Wyoming hung around early and even pulled within 14-13 in the third on a Tyler Hughes scramble, but that's when it fell apart — Hughes threw three picks and the Cowboys just couldn't move the ball after that. CSU ripped off 21 unanswered to bury them 35-13, and the game was never really in doubt once Hejny got hot.
