New York YankeesvsLos Angeles Angels
NYY 6/LAA 3
Things to say
The Yankees beat the Angels 6-3 in 10 innings at Angel Stadium.
01
opener
Yankees took it 6-3, but they had to grind for it. Tied it late and stole the game in extras. Classic road win where you just outlast a bad team.
02
key player
The heart of the order finally woke up in the tenth. When the Bombers get their big bats going late, it's lights out.
03
hot take
Angels are 53-87 and it shows. They're not losing games, they're giving them away in the late innings.
04
deep cut
That went to the tenth on a getaway day. Nobody wants free baseball before a flight, and the bullpen depth decided it.
05
exit
Anyway, Yankees are rolling at 80-60. Curious if they can keep the foot on the gas down the stretch.
The recap
Free baseball at Angel Stadium, and the Yankees made it count once they got to the tenth. This one was knotted up late until New York's heart of the order finally broke through with a three-run tenth to flip a 3-3 nailbiter into a 6-3 win.
The Angels bullpen couldn't hold the door in extras, and a 53-87 club just doesn't have the horses to trade haymakers with a team pushing 80 wins. Getaway-day baseball, and the Bombers head out of town with the series feeling good about themselves.
