New York YankeesvsAthletics
NYY 8/ATH 2
Things to say
Yankees beat the Athletics 8-2 in Sacramento.
01
opener
Yanks rolled the A's 8-2 out in Sacramento. Never really felt close after the middle innings. New York's lineup just kept turning over.
02
key player
Heart of the order did the damage — Judge looked locked in and the bottom half kept the line moving.
03
hot take
The A's bullpen is cooked. Manager went to the pen too early and it snowballed.
04
deep cut
Playing a big-league game at Sutter Health Park still feels weird — minor league park, major league scoreboard.
05
exit
Yankees are 35-22 now, basically cruising. Curious what they do in the next series.
The recap
Yankees rolled into Sutter Health Park and put a hurting on the A's, 8-2, never really letting Oakland breathe. With no scoring summary to point to a single haymaker, it played like a classic Bombers night — heart of the order doing damage in chunks while the starter ate innings and kept the bullpen on ice.
The A's manager probably went to the pen a hair too early once it got out of hand, and from there it was just garbage time in Sacramento. Yanks move to 35-22 and keep cruising; the A's drop to 27-30 and you can feel the season starting to slip.
