New York YankeesvsBaltimore Orioles
NYY 3/BAL 1
Things to say
The Yankees beat the Orioles 3-1 at Camden Yards.
01
opener
Yanks took it 3-1 in Baltimore. Low-scoring, kind of a pitcher's duel. Camden's usually a bandbox, so seeing it stay that tight was a little surprising.
02
key player
Whoever started for New York got into his stuff early. Went deep, kept the WHIP down, gave the pen almost nothing to do. That's the whole ballgame right there.
03
hot take
One run at Camden Yards? Baltimore's heart of the order just didn't show up. That lineup should be putting up crooked numbers at home.
04
deep cut
The O's left the tying runs on and couldn't cash in. Their OBP was fine, they just went cold with guys in scoring position. Getaway day sleepwalk.
05
exit
Anyway, Yankees keep pulling away in the standings. Curious if Baltimore can bounce back tomorrow or if this series is already slipping.
The recap
Pitcher's duel at Camden Yards, and the Yankees squeezed out a 3-1 win over the Orioles. Baltimore's bats stayed cold all night, managing just the one run while New York's arms kept the heart of the order in check.
The Yankees did just enough damage early and let the bullpen slam the door to lock down the road W. Orioles fall to 61-65 and are running out of runway, while the Yanks keep humming at 70-55.
