The Rays hung a zero on the Yankees and cruised to a 3-0 shutout at the Trop on getaway day. Tampa's staff was locked in from the jump, keeping the heart of New York's order off the bases all night and never letting the Yankees sniff a rally.
Three runs was plenty of cushion once the pitching got into its stuff and the bullpen slammed the door. New York gets blanked and heads out of Florida a game closer to the pack in the standings.
