Southern JaguarsvsOklahoma State Cowgirls
SOU 39/OKST 81
Things to say
Oklahoma State smoked Southern 81-39 in the season opener at Gallagher-Iba.
01
opener
Cowgirls jumped on 'em early and never let go. 81-39 in the opener, that's not a game, that's a statement. Southern never had a shot.
02
key player
Audi Crooks went for 22 and looked unstoppable in the paint. Southern just had no answer for her down low.
03
hot take
Hold the parade. You hang 81 on an overmatched Southern squad and I'm not learning anything. Show me that against a real league opponent.
04
deep cut
Watch Yuting Deng — 12 boards and she's not even the headliner. OKST crushed the glass all night and that's the real story.
05
exit
Early November tune-up, nothing more. Catch me when the schedule gets real.
The recap
Oklahoma State opened the season by absolutely burying Southern 81-39, and it was a mismatch from the jump. Audi Crooks ate them up inside for 22, bullying the paint while Yuting Deng cleaned the glass with 12 boards and Liv McGill ran the show with 5 dimes.
Southern just couldn't buy a bucket all night, with Zaria Hurston's 10 the only thing keeping them in double digits. A 42-point beatdown is about as clean a opening-night statement as it gets.
