UC San Diego TritonsvsWashington Huskies

UCSD 63/WASH 79

B1G+Alaska Airlines Arena
Things to say

Washington beat UC San Diego 79-63 to open the season 1-0.

01
opener
Washington handled business in the opener, 79-63. Never really in doubt once they pulled away. UCSD just didn't have the horses to hang.
02
key player
Sayvia Sellers ran the whole show — 25 and 10 dimes. Double-double in game one, she was getting buckets at will.
03
hot take
Sixteen-point win but it felt closer to a blowout. UCSD couldn't buy a bucket down the stretch.
04
deep cut
Brynn McGaughy quietly ate them up on the glass — 15 boards. That's the stuff nobody tweets about but it won the game.
05
exit
Early November, nonconference tune-up. Real test comes once B1G play starts — we'll see what they've got then.
The recap

Washington opened the season with a 79-63 handling of UC San Diego, and Sayvia Sellers ran the whole show. She dropped 25 with a cool 10 dimes for the double-double, basically an absolute clinic in the backcourt.

Brynn McGaughy was a monster on the glass with 15 boards, so the Huskies owned the paint all night. UCSD leaned on Coryn Watts for 15, but nobody else could buy a bucket and they took the L on the road.
