The morning line

MLB The marquee game is the Philadelphia Phillies at the Atlanta Braves, with Atlanta sitting as heavy favorites at home and looking to lock down their spot before the postseason bracket sets. Just as good a watercooler pick is the Boston Red Sox heading into Yankee Stadium for a getaway day tilt against New York, always a heart-of-the-order slugfest with playoff seeding implications. Don't sleep on Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres either, a tight one-run-line matchup where a shaky bullpen could turn it into a walk-off in front of the home crowd.

NFL Monday Night Football is the marquee game, with the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles heading into Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears, who are still finding their footing at 1-1. Philadelphia is favored by three and a half, so if the Bears can't move the ball on early downs and keep getting stuck in third-and-long, this could turn into a rout Chicago's defense can't bail them out of. Keep an eye on the total sitting at 42.5 — a low-scoring, smashmouth affair in the red zone would hammer the under.

NHL The marquee matchup is the Florida Panthers heading to Carolina to face the Hurricanes, a rematch of two of the league's most physical teams, with Carolina favored at home on their own ice. Don't sleep on the Original Six clash between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, always chippy with penalty kill battles and net-front scrums in the crease. Later, the Edmonton Oilers are heavily favored over the Vancouver Canucks, so watch for a power play or two to turn it into a laugher if Vancouver takes bad penalties early.

WNBA The marquee tilt is Minnesota Lynx at New York Liberty, with the Lynx as slight road favorites in a matchup that reads like a statement game for both sides trying to build momentum. Earlier in the night, Las Vegas Aces visit the Indiana Fever as the slight underdog, and with Indiana at home you can bet they'll be looking to get buckets early and make it a track meet in the paint. Either game could turn into a dagger-at-the-buzzer type finish, so keep your phone handy for both.
