The morning line

EPL The marquee match is Manchester City traveling to Aston Villa, with City's unbeaten record on the line against a scrappy Villa side hungry to spoil it. Don't sleep on the London derby at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea hosts Tottenham Hotspur in a game that could turn on one through ball or a sitter missed in the box. Arsenal should cruise past Everton at home, but keep an eye out for a clean sheet if Arsenal's defense holds firm.

MLB The marquee game tonight is Game 1 of this series as the Tampa Bay Rays head to American Family Field to face the Milwaukee Brewers, with Milwaukee the heavy favorite behind that 103-59 record. The Brewers' deep lineup gives them the heart of the order advantage, so Tampa Bay needs its starter to go seven and keep the ball in the yard rather than leaning on the bullpen early. With the odds sitting at Milwaukee -193 and a 6.5 run total, watch whether Tampa Bay's southpaw can keep his WHIP down against a Brewers offense that's been getting into pitchers' stuff all series.

MLS It's the final full slate of the MLS regular season, and the marquee match is Inter Miami CF visiting Red Bull New York, where a win keeps Miami's playoff seeding hopes alive and a clean sheet would be a statement for either side. Also watch Nashville SC at CF Montréal, where Nashville's gaudy record makes them heavy favorites and a scoreless draw would be a shock. Across the slate, teams on the playoff bubble like Sporting Kansas City and D.C. United need results tonight or their seasons end without a single more sitter to finish.

NBA The marquee game tonight is New York Knicks at Boston Celtics, with the Celtics favored by 2.5 as both teams try to shake off season-opening losses and avoid falling to 0-2. Keep an eye on LA Clippers at Los Angeles Lakers too, a crosstown rivalry where the Lakers are expected to put on a bit of a clinic as 8.5-point favorites. If you want buckets and splash, the under-the-radar Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs tilt also has some and-one potential with the over/under set at a modest 224.5.

NCAA Football The marquee matchup is Texas A&M Aggies at Alabama Crimson Tide, with Alabama a 13.5-point favorite but still needing to prove they can control time of possession against a ranked Aggies defense. Don't sleep on Miami Hurricanes hosting Pittsburgh Panthers, where an unbeaten Miami squad is a near 20-point favorite and could cover easily if Pitt can't move the ball past midfield. For a true smashmouth fight, watch Utah Utes against Houston Cougars, two unbeaten-ish teams in a game where red-zone efficiency, not garbage-time stats, will decide who stays in the playoff picture.

NHL The marquee matchup is Toronto Maple Leafs at Edmonton Oilers, with the red-hot Oilers riding an 8-1-1 start and favored at home against a Leafs squad that can't afford to fall further behind in a brutal Atlantic race. Also circle Tampa Bay Lightning at Colorado Avalanche, a battle of two of the league's best starts where special teams should decide it, so watch for a power play goal snuck top shelf or a shorthanded snipe the other way. If either club pulls the goalie late in a close one, expect a frantic scramble in the slot with the crease wide open for a bang-bang finish.

WNBA The marquee matchup is the Golden State Valkyries heading into State Farm Arena to face the Atlanta Dream, with Atlanta favored at home by 4.5 but Golden State carrying the better record at 32-12. This one's really about playoff seeding positioning down the stretch, and with the over/under set at 153.5, expect plenty of buckets in the paint and splash shooting on both ends. Keep an eye on whoever's running hot from deep late — a dagger three in the final minutes could decide who takes the L.
