The morning line

EPL The marquee matchup is Manchester United at Chelsea, a heavyweight derby-style clash with real pride on the line even though both clubs are mid-table this season. Across town at the Etihad, unbeaten Manchester City host Brighton and Hove Albion looking to keep their clean sheet run going as the odds-on favorites. Don't sleep on Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur either, a tight affair that could easily finish nil-nil if Palace can pack it in and grind out a draw.

MLS Keep an eye on FC Dallas visiting Sporting Kansas City, where a road win would put real distance between Dallas and the rest of the pack even though Kansas City has nothing left to play for. The nightcap sends Chicago Fire FC into Colorado with both sides capable of a sitter or a goal out of nowhere given the low over-under on the board. If you want a tight one, Orlando City at Charlotte looks like a coin flip that could easily finish nil-nil or get decided by a single clean sheet.

NBA The marquee game tonight is Lakers at Warriors, a measuring-stick clash between a 4-1 Lakers squad still riding high and a Golden State team looking to find its footing at home. Also keep an eye on Rockets-Mavericks, with Houston undefeated at 5-0 and looking to keep the buckets coming against a Dallas team hungry to hand them their first L. And don't sleep on Celtics-Bulls, where Boston's hot start has them favored by double digits and poised to eat Chicago up if they get splashing early.

NCAA Football The marquee game of the slate is Ohio State at USC, a top-ten showdown where the Buckeyes are favored on the road but will need to control time of possession against a Trojans offense playing on its home turf at the Coliseum. Don't sleep on Florida at Georgia either, with the Bulldogs favored by double digits and expected to control the line of scrimmage in the trenches. If you want a smashmouth clock-killer, check Indiana hosting Minnesota, where the Hoosiers are such heavy favorites that garbage-time stats could pile up early if they get into the red zone often.

NHL The game to watch is New Jersey Devils at Vegas Golden Knights, tied 2-2 after one period at T-Mobile Arena, with both clubs off to strong starts and jockeying for early Western standings positioning. Keep an eye on the power play in this one, since a goalie pulled late or a snipe from the slot could swing it either way. Later, Edmonton Oilers at New York Islanders is the other marquee watch, with the red-hot 9-2-2 Oilers favored on the road against a scrappy Islanders squad looking for a statement win in front of their home crowd.

WNBA The marquee game is the Atlanta Dream heading to Chase Center to face the Golden State Valkyries, two of the league's best squaring off with the Valkyries at 32-12 and the Dream right behind at 30-14. Vegas has this one as a near coin flip, with Golden State just a 1.5-point favorite and the total sitting at 142.5, so expect buckets all night. Watch for whoever gets hot from deep to swing it, splash threes in this one could be the difference between a signature home win and the Dream pulling off the road upset.
