Austin FCvsSeattle Sounders FC
ATX 2/SEA 1
Things to say
Austin FC beat the Seattle Sounders 2-1 on the road at Lumen Field.
01
opener
Austin went into Seattle and stole three points. Sounders piled on the chances but couldn't finish. Two-one, road win, and it felt like a smash-and-grab.
02
key player
Damian Las was the difference. Six saves for Austin, kept them in it every time Seattle came knocking.
03
hot take
Seattle dominated the run of play and still lost. That's a home team that flatters to deceive.
04
deep cut
Rusnák led everybody with five shots and still nothing to show for it. Seattle's finishing was the real story.
05
exit
Austin's still swimming in draws, but a road result like this keeps them alive. Let's see if they can build on it next week.
The recap
Austin FC walked into Lumen Field and nicked a 2-1 win on the road, which nobody saw coming from a side sitting under .500. Seattle threw everything at them but couldn't break through enough, and Damian Las was the difference in the Austin goal with six saves keeping the door mostly shut.
Andy Thomas made five stops of his own for the Sounders, but a leaky night at the back cost them. Road three points, and Austin heads home happy.
