Atlanta BravesvsMinnesota Twins
ATL 4/MIN 6
Things to say
The Minnesota Twins beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 at Target Field.
01
opener
Twins took it 6-4 at home. Braves are the better club on paper but they ran into a buzzsaw. Nice little win for Minnesota.
02
key player
The heart of the Twins order did the damage. They put up six and made every one of them count against Atlanta.
03
hot take
Braves are 74-53 and they just dropped one to a sub-.500 team. That's the kind of loss that bites you in September.
04
deep cut
Getaway day at Target Field and the Twins bullpen slammed the door on a four-run night. Quiet bit of work nobody talks about.
05
exit
Anyway, Atlanta's still cruising to October. I'm just watching to see if the Twins can play spoiler down the stretch.
The recap
Getaway day at Target Field and the Twins played spoiler, knocking off a Braves club that came in 21 games over .500. Minnesota scratched across six and made it stand, while Atlanta's four runs never quite dented the lead late.
The Braves left the heart of the order stranded when it mattered and couldn't string together the big inning they needed. Final's 6-4, and the sub-.500 Twins walk away with a signature win over a contender.
