Man, 3-2 at PNC, that one was tight the whole way. Pirates pitching just kept Milwaukee off the board. Low-scoring grind, exactly the kind of game you either love or fall asleep on.

The Bucs' starter was the story, got into his stuff early and worked deep into it. When the front of your rotation goes like that, you take your chances against anybody.

I don't care that Milwaukee's 59-36, they didn't touch the heart of that Pirates staff. Best record in the league doesn't mean much when you can't string two hits together.

Real difference was the bottom of the order for Pittsburgh. Bunch of quiet at-bats that flipped the lineup over and manufactured just enough. Nobody left the yard, they just scratched.
