St. Louis CardinalsvsAtlanta Braves
STL 11/ATL 5
Things to say
The Cardinals beat the Braves 11-5 at Truist Park.
01
opener
Cards went into Atlanta and just put up a crooked number. Eleven to five, and it wasn't even that close. They were swinging at everything early and it worked.
02
key player
The top of that St. Louis order was relentless, kept turning the lineup over. You give a Braves staff that many baserunners, they're gonna make you pay.
03
hot take
Honestly Atlanta's bullpen is the problem. Fifty and thirty-five looks nice but the pen keeps giving games back once the starter's out.
04
deep cut
Getaway day too, so both benches were half-emptied by the eighth. You could tell the Braves were already thinking about the flight.
05
exit
We'll see if the Cards can carry it, they're right back at it this weekend. Should be a fun series.
The recap
St. Louis went into Truist Park and put up a crooked number, hanging 11 on Atlanta to take this one by six.
The bats stayed hot right through the heart of the order, and once they got a lead they never gave it back. Atlanta's five runs looked fine on paper, but the pitching couldn't slow the Cardinals down on a getaway day.
STL grabs the win and climbs to 45-39.
