The morning line

MLB The marquee game on this getaway-day slate is the San Diego Padres heading into Dodger Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have the best record in the sport at 56-31 and are installed as heavy favorites with the line sitting at Dodgers -198 — if their starter goes seven and keeps the Padres heart of the order quiet, this one could be a clinic. Keep an eye on the Milwaukee Brewers visiting the Arizona Diamondbacks, with Milwaukee coming in at 53-32 and laying nearly two runs on the line, so expect their bullpen to get tested late if their starter doesn't go deep. The Atlanta Braves, sitting pretty at 50-34, host the St. Louis Cardinals in what shapes up as a tighter affair with a high over-under of nine, and the Braves' home advantage at Truist Park could be the difference if the Cardinals can get into their stuff early.

WNBA The marquee matchup this slate is the Minnesota Lynx rolling into Barclays Center to take on the New York Liberty — the Lynx are 15-4 and came in as slight favorites, so this is a legit top-of-the-league clash between two squads that have been dropping buckets all season. The Atlanta Dream, riding a 12-7 record, open the night against the Washington Mystics at CareFirst Arena as big favorites, so watch whether Washington can hang or just takes the L early. Later on, the Las Vegas Aces host the Chicago Sky in what looks like a mismatch on paper — Vegas is rolling at 14-5 and giving nearly ten points — but the Sky have been known to keep it interesting in the paint when the energy is right.

World Cup Croatia and Portugal are already underway at BMO Field, locked nil-nil through the early minutes with Portugal the heavy favorites to push through. The marquee match comes later when defending champions Argentina host Cape Verde at Hard Rock Stadium — the odds are a staggering minus-650 in Argentina's favor, so the real question is just how many times they find the net. Egypt versus Australia in Dallas and Colombia against Ghana in Kansas City round out the slate, with Colombia looking rock solid at minus-225 to keep things comfortable.
