Columbus CrewvsCharlotte FC
CLB 1/CLT 3
Things to say
Charlotte FC beat Columbus Crew 3-1 at Bank of America Stadium.
01
opener
Charlotte took care of business at home, 3-1 over Columbus. They looked sharp and never really let the Crew settle. Good night to be at Bank of America.
02
key player
Pep Biel was all over it up top, led the line with three shots and made them count. Guy's been Charlotte's engine all season.
03
hot take
Columbus knocked it around all night, Chambost had 91 accurate passes, but possession means nothing if you don't find the net.
04
deep cut
David Schnegg quietly put in a shift on defense, 14 interventions. That's the kind of grunt work nobody talks about the next day.
05
exit
Charlotte's climbing the East now, gonna be fun to see if they can keep it rolling into the playoff push.
The recap
Charlotte handled business at home, taking down Columbus 3-1 to keep their playoff push humming. Pep Biel was the busiest man in the attack and Charlotte's front line kept coming until the Crew cracked, with Kahlina making three saves to keep it comfortable at the back.
Columbus knocked the ball around nicely, Chambost pinging 91 accurate passes, but all that possession never turned into goals that mattered. Bottom line: Charlotte were sharper where it counts and cruised to a deserved three points.
