Arizona DiamondbacksvsSt. Louis Cardinals
ARI 9/STL 4
Things to say
The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-4 at Busch Stadium.
01
opener
D-backs took it 9-4 in St. Louis. Arizona's bats were locked in all night. Cardinals never really got it back to a one-score game.
02
key player
The top of Arizona's order did the damage — heart of the lineup kept turning it over and putting up crooked numbers.
03
hot take
Cards manager went to the pen way too early, and the bullpen just gave it right back. That loss is on the bench, not the hitters.
04
deep cut
Nine on the road at Busch is no joke — that's a tough yard to score in. Arizona left the yard and kept the pressure on.
05
exit
Anyway, D-backs look hot heading into the rest of the series — curious if St. Louis can answer back tomorrow.
The recap
Arizona went into Busch Stadium and put up a crooked number, rolling the Cardinals 9-4 on a getaway day. The D-backs' bats got going early and never let St.
Louis breathe, stacking runs against a Cardinals staff that couldn't find an out when it mattered. St.
Louis scratched out four but never seriously threatened once Arizona pulled ahead. Easy day at the office for the Snakes, who steal a road game and head out of town feeling good.
