26 games played, by sport.
MLB The marquee game tonight is the Los Angeles Dodgers heading to Target Field to face the Minnesota Twins — at 51-29, the Dodgers are the class of the league and the Twins bullpen will need to be sharp if they want to keep the heart of that order in check. Keep an eye on the New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers, where the Yanks are already up early and their rotation has been one of the most reliable in baseball all year. The nightcap to watch is Atlanta Braves at San Diego Padres in Petco Park — both clubs are hovering around .500 in a tight wild-card race, so a walk-off either way would have real implications for the standings.
WNBA The nightcap everyone's circling is Dallas Wings at Las Vegas Aces — two of the hottest teams in the league going at it at Michelob ULTRA Arena, with the Aces giving just four and a half at home, which tells you how close these squads are right now. The Atlanta Dream roll into Chase Center riding a 12-4 record and installed as a slight road favorite over the Golden State Valkyries, so if the Valkyries want to prove they can hang with a real contender, tonight's the audition. Earlier, the Minnesota Lynx — sitting at 13-4 and putting on a clinic all season — take on the Washington Mystics, and the Indiana Fever host a Phoenix Mercury squad that's been taking the L all year and couldn't buy a bucket against anyone worth mentioning.
World Cup The marquee game right now is Brazil against Scotland at Hard Rock Stadium, where Brazil lead two-nil at halftime and are making it look comfortable — Scotland need a miracle in the second half to keep their knockout hopes alive. Meanwhile, Morocco and Haiti are level at two apiece at halftime in an absolute thriller at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a result that would hurt Morocco given their favored status. Later tonight, the United States — still perfect through two matches — face an unbeaten Türkiye side at SoFi Stadium in what shapes up as the highest-stakes American match of the group stage, while Germany at Ecuador at MetLife Stadium is the other can't-miss clash between two teams fighting for top spot.
