Seattle MarinersvsPittsburgh Pirates
SEA 1/PIT 11
Things to say
The Pirates routed the Mariners 11-1 at PNC Park to even their record at 40-40.
01
opener
Pirates absolutely teed off, 11-1 at PNC. It was over by the middle innings. Mariners just got buried.
02
key player
Whoever Pittsburgh ran out there carved it up. Eleven runs of support and the heart of their order left the yard more than once.
03
hot take
Seattle's bullpen got torched, but honestly the bigger issue is one run of offense. You can't win when the lineup goes quiet like that.
04
deep cut
Getaway-day blowout too, day game after a night game. Pirates jumped on them early and never let the starter get into his stuff.
05
exit
Anyway, both clubs are right at .500, so I'm curious how they bounce back next series.
The recap
The Pirates absolutely buried the Mariners 11-1 at PNC Park, and it was over early. Pittsburgh's bats woke up and battered Seattle's staff while their own starter cruised, keeping the heart of Seattle's order off balance all night.
Once the Pirates piled on, the manager had to wave the white flag and burn the back of his pen in a game that was already out of reach. Mariners managed a single run and never threatened, dropping a getaway-day clunker.
