FulhamvsSunderland
FUL 0/SUN 1
Things to say
Sunderland beat Fulham 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.
01
opener
Sunderland got it done 1-0 at home. Ugly game, but they took their chance and locked it down. Fulham couldn't find the net all afternoon.
02
key player
Granit Xhaka ran the show in midfield, 54 accurate passes. Guy just controls the tempo, they don't win that without him.
03
hot take
Fulham are 0-0-2 to start. Two draws, now a loss, no goals to show for it. That's not a slow start, that's a problem up top.
04
deep cut
Nordi Mukiele had 20 defensive interventions at the back. Clean sheet doesn't happen without him cleaning everything up.
05
exit
Anyway, Sunderland's got a real look this year. Curious to see if they can back it up on the road next week.
The recap
Sunderland got the job done at home, grinding out a 1-0 win over Fulham at the Stadium of Light. It was a tight one all afternoon, but the hosts found the net once and made it hold up for the clean sheet.
Enzo Le Fée and Granit Xhaka ran the show in midfield, keeping Fulham from ever getting comfortable. Fulham couldn't buy a goal despite Bernd Leno's saves keeping them close, and they're still stuck without a win on the season.
