Houston Dynamo FCvsVancouver Whitecaps
HOU 1/VAN 0
Things to say
Houston Dynamo FC won 1-0 at Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS.
01
opener
Houston went into BC Place and stole one, 1-nil. Whitecaps threw everything at it and couldn't find the net. Classic road smash-and-grab.
02
key player
Jonathan Bond only had to make one save but he kept the clean sheet, and honestly Artur ran that midfield — 18 defensive interventions is a monster shift.
03
hot take
Vancouver's 11-4-4 record is a mirage if they can't beat a Houston side that basically parked the bus. Front line went missing.
04
deep cut
Tristan Blackmon completed 94 passes and it meant nothing — all that possession, zero goals. Larraz led with four shots and still couldn't beat Bond.
05
exit
Big three points for Houston in the playoff race. Curious to see if Vancouver bounces back next week.
The recap
Houston went into BC Place and nicked a 1-0 win, grinding out three points against a Whitecaps side that came in flying at 11-4-4. Vancouver had the ball and the territory but couldn't turn it into anything, with Yohei Takaoka's counterpart Jonathan Bond needing just one save to lock down the clean sheet at the other end.
Artur was everywhere in the middle for Houston, breaking up 18 attacks and doing the dirty work that let the visitors sit on their lead. Not pretty, but a big road result that pushes Houston up to 12-2-6.
