Seattle MarinersvsHouston Astros
SEA 3/HOU 2
Things to say
Seattle beat Houston 3-2 on the road at Daikin Park.
01
opener
Mariners squeaked one out in Houston, 3-2. Real grinder of a game. Came down to the last couple innings like you knew it would.
02
key player
Whoever Seattle ran out there got into his stuff early and kept the Astros' heart of the order off balance all night. That's the whole game right there.
03
hot take
Two runs at home? Houston's bats have gone quiet. That lineup should never get shut down like that in their own yard.
04
deep cut
Astros manager went to the pen a hair too early, and you could feel the momentum flip. One extra inning from the starter and maybe this one's different.
05
exit
Both these teams are hovering under .500, so every one of these matters now. Curious to see if Seattle carries it into the next one.
The recap
Seattle grinds out a 3-2 win in Houston to steal one on the road. This was a pitchers' duel most of the night, low-scoring with both bullpens locking it down after the starters handed it off.
The Mariners scratched across just enough at the plate and the pen slammed the door to make it hold up. Astros drop another and slip back under .500 at 63-62, while Seattle keeps clawing.
