The morning line

MLB The marquee game is Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers, a first-place scrap with the Brewers clinging to a two-game edge and the bullpen door wide open in the bottom of the ninth. Down in the Bay, the Rockies are torching the Giants' pen for thirteen runs, a laugher that says plenty about San Francisco's staff getting into its stuff the wrong way. Later tonight, watch Seattle at Houston for a tighter, low-scoring test of two contending rotations before the getaway day slate rolls into tomorrow.

MLS The night's marquee is New York City FC hosting Philadelphia Union, and it's already ugly for the visitors, down two-nil deep into first-half stoppage time at Yankee Stadium. Over at Soldier Field, Chicago Fire FC put a similar scare into Portland at the break, up two-nil against a Timbers side that came in unbeaten in its last several. Later on, Vancouver Whitecaps roll into Seattle as the West's form team looking to keep their unbeaten run going against a scrappy Sounders side, while Dallas and Austin kick off a doubleheader capper with both clubs scrapping for playoff positioning.

WNBA Marquee action right now is Indiana Fever at Atlanta Dream, a tight one down the stretch with the Dream clinging to a slim lead over the Fever with under two minutes left in the fourth, both clubs jockeying for playoff seeding. Chicago Sky are quietly putting on a clinic in Seattle, up five late on the lottery-bound Storm. Circle Golden State Valkyries hosting Dallas Wings Monday night too, a battle for home-court positioning with the Valkyries favored and both offenses capable of splashing threes all night.
