Texas RangersvsAthletics
TEX 2/ATH 5
Things to say
The Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 5-2 at Sutter Health Park.
01
opener
A's took it 5-2. Rangers just never got anything going against the heart of that lineup. Kind of a getaway-day dud for Texas.
02
key player
Whoever the A's ran out at the top of the order set the tone all night. That's the guy who won them the game, not the box score names you'd expect.
03
hot take
Rangers are 61-64 for a reason. This isn't a fluke, they've been flat for weeks.
04
deep cut
The A's bullpen was the real story. They handed it off late and just slammed the door, kept Texas off the board when it mattered.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if Texas can bounce back tomorrow. Long season, plenty of baseball left.
The recap
The A's took care of business at Sutter Health Park, knocking off the Rangers 5-2 to snap a little momentum their way. Texas never really got into anything at the plate — two runs and quiet through the heart of the order tells the story.
The A's bullpen slammed the door late and made that early cushion stand up. Not a marquee matchup, but a solid getaway-day win for a club that's had few of them at 49-75.
