Vancouver WhitecapsvsSeattle Sounders FC

VAN 2/SEA 0

Apple TVLumen Field
Things to say

Vancouver beat Seattle 2-0 at Lumen Field to take the Cascadia bragging rights.

01
opener
Caps went into Lumen and got it done, 2-nil. Sounders never really got going. Clean sheet on the road in the derby, that's a statement.
02
key player
Thomas Müller looked like he's been playing MLS his whole life. Five shots, ran the show. Best money Vancouver's spent.
03
hot take
Seattle mustered like two shots all night at home. That's not a slump, that's a problem.
04
deep cut
Nouhou had fifteen defensive interventions and it still didn't matter. Tells you how much time the Caps spent camped in Seattle's half.
05
exit
Vancouver's top of the table now, 11-4-3. Anyway, we'll see if Seattle can bounce back next week.
The recap

Vancouver walked into Lumen Field and grabbed a tidy 2-0 win, leaving Seattle to stew on a night where they mustered next to nothing going forward. Thomas Müller was the danger man, firing off five shots and pulling the Whitecaps' attack together while the Sounders barely tested the keeper.

Seattle's Albert Rusnák managed just two attempts all night, which tells you everything about how flat the hosts looked. Clean sheet, three points on the road, and Vancouver keep humming along at the top with an 11-4-3 mark.
