Baltimore OriolesvsTampa Bay Rays
BAL 10/TB 2
Things to say
The Orioles beat the Rays 10-2 on the road at Tropicana Field.
01
opener
Orioles just went into the Trop and hung a ten-spot on the Rays. Ten to two, wasn't even close. On a getaway day too.
02
key player
Baltimore's bats did all the damage, the heart of the order was locked in all afternoon. When they're stringing hits together like that nobody in that lineup is an easy out.
03
hot take
Rays are 74-49 and they still got run out of their own building by a sub-.500 club. That record's starting to look a little soft to me.
04
deep cut
Tampa manager went to the pen way too early and it just poured gas on the fire. Ten runs on a team that's supposed to have arms.
05
exit
We'll see if the O's can carry it, but the Rays better figure it out quick before this turns into a whole slide.
The recap
Baltimore came into the Trop and absolutely bludgeoned Tampa, 10-2, in a getaway-day laugher that was over before it really started. The heart of the O's order did the damage early and never let up, turning a close one into a rout once they got into the Rays' bullpen.
Tampa's offense, meanwhile, never got going and could only muster a pair against Baltimore's arms. Ugly afternoon for a first-place club, but the Orioles will take a double-digit road win any day they can get it.
