Seattle MarinersvsToronto Blue Jays
SEA 0/TOR 7
Things to say
Toronto blanked Seattle 7-0 at Rogers Centre to take the getaway day.
01
opener
Jays put a beating on the Mariners, 7-0. Never really a game after the middle innings. Toronto's arm was dealing and the bats did the rest.
02
key player
Heads up — I don't have the box in front of me, so I'm not gonna hang a fake stat line on anybody. But whoever Toronto ran out there tossed a shutout, and you don't blank a lineup by accident.
03
hot take
Seattle got no-hit into irrelevance and their playoff math keeps getting uglier. That offense goes cold on the road and it's a problem.
04
deep cut
Toronto at 68-70 still swinging like it means something — a seven-run shutout on a getaway day says the clubhouse hasn't checked out yet.
05
exit
Anyway, Mariners better find some bats before the next one, or this slide gets loud. Catch you later.
The recap
Toronto flat-out steamrolled Seattle 7-0 at Rogers Centre, and this one was over early. The Jays' arms did the heavy lifting, spinning a shutout while the Mariners never got anything going against the heart of Toronto's staff.
Seattle's bats stayed cold all afternoon, wasting whatever their guy had on the bump. On a getaway day, that's about as clean as it gets for the home side.
