Seattle MarinersvsBaltimore Orioles
SEA 6/BAL 3
Things to say
Mariners beat the Orioles 6-3 at Camden Yards.
01
opener
Mariners took it 6-3 in Baltimore. Felt like Seattle controlled it from the middle innings on. Camden played fair, but the O's bats just never got going.
02
key player
Seattle's starter got into his stuff early — sat down the heart of the order twice without much trouble.
03
hot take
Baltimore at 31-36 is not a fluke. That bullpen is cooked, and it's only June.
04
deep cut
O's manager went to the pen too early again. You can't keep burning relievers when your starter's still cruising.
05
exit
Anyway — we'll see if Seattle can keep it rolling on the road, they're a real wild card team now.
The recap
Seattle rolled into Camden and walked out with a 6-3 win, pushing the Mariners three games over .500 while the Orioles slipped further under. Without a scoring breakdown it's hard to pin the turning point, but a three-run cushion in a low-scoring affair usually means somebody in the middle of the order got into a pitch and left the yard.
Baltimore's bullpen has been bleeding leads all year, and another loss at home doesn't help the vibe in that clubhouse. Mariners keep quietly stacking wins in the AL West race.
