The recap
Miami squeaked out a 9-8 win in a game that had no business staying that close. Both bullpens got roughed up once the starters were gone, and every time the Athletics clawed back, the Marlins had an answer.
The heart of the Miami order kept the traffic moving all afternoon, and one more run in the middle innings proved to be the difference. Athletics fought to the final out but couldn't get the tying run home.
