Miami MarlinsvsNew York Mets
MIA 1/NYM 6
Things to say
Mets beat the Marlins 6-1 at Citi Field on Saturday night.
01
opener
Mets took care of business at home, 6-1 over Miami. Felt like it was over by the fifth. Citi was rocking.
02
key player
Whoever started for the Mets got into his stuff early — Marlins lineup couldn't square anything up. One run on the board says it all.
03
hot take
Marlins are basically a .500 team pretending to be in a rebuild. They're better than their record and nobody's noticing.
04
deep cut
Both teams sitting on 33 losses but the Mets are the ones at home looking like the contender. Funny how that works in May.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if they can keep it rolling — long season, you can't read too much into one night.
The recap
Mets cruised past Miami 6-1 at Citi, and honestly it never felt that close after the middle innings. No box-score heroes jumped out, but whoever drew the start clearly got into his stuff and kept the Marlins' bats quiet all night.
Miami's pen couldn't stop the bleeding once New York's order turned over a second time, and that's when this one tipped for good. A tidy win for a Mets club that badly needed to stack one in the standings.
