Miami MarlinsvsPhiladelphia Phillies
MIA 1/PHI 4
Things to say
The Phillies beat the Marlins 4-1 at Citizens Bank Park.
01
opener
Phillies took care of business at home, 4-1 over Miami. Pitching carried it. Never really felt in doubt after the middle innings.
02
key player
The Philly starter was the story. Went seven, one run, kept the Marlins' heart of the order off balance all night. Guy was into his stuff.
03
hot take
Miami's only in this if they stop chasing junk out of the zone. One run at Citizens Bank isn't beating anybody.
04
deep cut
Marlins are sitting at .500 flat, 64-64. That's a team that can't decide if it's a buyer or a seller.
05
exit
Phils are rolling at 70-58. Anyway, we'll see if they can keep it going the rest of this series.
The recap
Phillies handled the Marlins 4-1 at Citizens Bank Park to take this one, and it was the kind of tidy home win where the pitching set the tone all night. Miami never got its bats going against Philly's arms, scratching across just a single run while the heart of the order stayed quiet.
The Phillies did enough at the plate, then leaned on the bullpen to slam the door and keep the Marlins from ever making it interesting late. Solid getaway-day baseball that pushes Philadelphia to 70-58 while Miami slips back to .500 at 64-64.
