New York MetsvsAtlanta Braves
NYM 8/ATL 5
Things to say
The Mets beat the Braves 8-5 on the road at Truist Park.
01
opener
Mets went into Atlanta and put up eight. Braves have been rolling all year and the Mets just came in and took it, 8-5. Kind of a statement road win.
02
key player
Their bats did the damage early. Eight runs on the road against a first-place club, the heart of the order was locked in all night.
03
hot take
Braves are 71-48 and still let a sub-.500 team hang eight on them. That's a bullpen problem, not a fluke.
04
deep cut
Mets are like 53-67 and they still walk out of Truist with a W. On a getaway day that's the kind of game good teams are supposed to lock down.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if the Braves bounce back tomorrow, they don't usually drop two in a row at home.
The recap
The Mets went into Truist Park and stole one, tagging the Braves 8-5 on a getaway day where the bats did the talking early and never really quit. New York put up crooked numbers and forced Atlanta to chase all afternoon, and once you're playing catch-up in your own yard the whole thing starts to feel uphill.
The Braves scratched back to make it a game, but the Mets bullpen slammed the door before it got interesting. Nice road win for a New York club that could use the momentum.
