Nashville SCvsRed Bull New York
NSH 1/RBNY 0
Things to say
Nashville SC beat Red Bull New York 1-0 at Red Bull Arena.
01
opener
Nashville went into Red Bull Arena and grabbed all three points, 1-nil. Not pretty, but they got the job done. That's a road win against a team fighting for playoff position.
02
key player
Brian Schwake had a quiet night in goal, one save and a clean sheet. When your keeper barely gets tested on the road, that's the whole back line doing its job.
03
hot take
Red Bull outshot them and still lost. Been the story all year for them, plenty of buildup, no finish. That's a wasted evening at home.
04
deep cut
Woledzi and Maher put in a shift at the back, fourteen defensive interventions from Woledzi alone. Nashville just soaked it up and hit them once.
05
exit
Nashville's sitting at 14-4-2 now, they're a genuine problem in the East. Curious to see if they keep it up next week.
The recap
Nashville went into Red Bull Arena and nicked a 1-0 win, and it was exactly the kind of gritty smash-and-grab that separates the good sides from the rest. Nashville barely had to strain—Brian Schwake made just one save all night—while New York huffed and puffed without ever really testing him.
Ethan Horvath kept the Red Bulls in it with a couple of stops, but nobody in the home shirt could find the net despite plenty of possession. Nashville sit pretty at 14-4-2 now, and that road clean sheet says everything about how comfortable this one felt.
