Washington NationalsvsAthletics
WSH 1/ATH 15
Things to say
The Athletics blew out the Nationals 15-1 at Sutter Health Park.
01
opener
Man, that one got out of hand quick. A's put up fifteen and the Nats never had a pulse. It was 15-1, felt worse than that even.
02
key player
The heart of the A's order just wore them out all night. Every time you looked up somebody was on base and the next guy left the yard. Nobody in that lineup made an easy out.
03
hot take
Honestly the Nationals manager left his starter out there way too long. Down big and still riding him into the pen fire, that's on the bench.
04
deep cut
What killed Washington was the free passes. Their WHIP was ugly, walks piling up, and you can't hand the A's extra runners like that on a getaway day.
05
exit
Anyway, blowouts don't tell you much. I wanna see the two of 'em in a tight one, that's the real tell.
The recap
This one was over before the tarp came off — the A's absolutely buried Washington 15-1 in Sacramento and never let up. Oakland's bats got into everything, stacking crooked numbers early and turning a getaway day into batting practice.
The Nationals scratched across a single run and spent the rest of the night watching their pen get torched. When you drop one by fourteen, there's no turning point to point at — it was a mismatch from the first pitch.
