Washington NationalsvsSan Francisco Giants
WSH 6/SF 3
Things to say
Nationals beat the Giants 6-3 at Oracle Park.
01
Nats took it 6-3 in San Francisco. Giants couldn't string anything together against the Washington staff. Oracle Park gave up some runs it usually doesn't.
02
key player
Washington's bats did the damage early — heart of the order kept turning the lineup over and the Giants' starter never got into his stuff.
03
hot take
Giants are 27-41 and it's not bad luck anymore, that's just the roster.
04
deep cut
Three runs at Oracle is usually enough on a cool night by the bay — bullpen coughed it up in the middle innings, manager probably went to the pen too early.
05
exit
Anyway, Nats are over .500 now — we'll see if they can keep it rolling on the next stop.
The recap
Nats walked into Oracle Park and put up six on the Giants, taking it 6-3 on a getaway day in San Francisco. Washington's bats kept chipping, and once they got into the Giants' starter, the manager went to the pen a hair too early and it cost him.
The heart of the order did the damage for the Nats, while San Francisco never strung enough together to climb back in. Washington's now over .500 at 35-33; the Giants drop to 27-41 and the season's getting away from them.
