The morning line

MLB The headline matchup tonight has the New York Yankees visiting the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in a nationally televised AL showdown — both clubs are sitting comfortably over .500 and the game figures to come down to whoever goes to the pen too early. Over at PNC Park it is already a tough spot for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are spotting the Pittsburgh Pirates a couple of early runs, and if the heart of that Dodger order does not get into their stuff soon, a lesser club could steal one from baseball's best team. On the night card, the Atlanta Braves bring a league-best 45-21 record into Rate Field as heavy favorites against the Chicago White Sox, though that over/under of nine suggests the offenses on both sides should be doing some damage.

NBA The marquee game tonight is San Antonio Spurs at New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on ABC, and with the Spurs rolling in at 62-20 on the season, this is the hottest ticket in basketball — MSG is going to be unhinged. The Knicks are slight 2.5-point home favorites, but San Antonio has been putting up buckets all year and the crowd noise alone won't be enough to slow them down. Watch for whether New York can get anything going in the paint early, because if the Spurs get comfortable from the perimeter and the over/under of 216.5 starts looking low, this one could get ugly fast.

NHL Tonight's marquee matchup on ABC has the Carolina Hurricanes skating into T-Mobile Arena to face the Vegas Golden Knights in what should be a tight, physical game. The Hurricanes come in as slight favorites at -120, backed by a dominant 53-22-7 record that speaks to a team built for this time of year — their penalty kill and ability to lock down the crease have been their calling cards all season. With an over-under of just 5.5, expect both goaltenders to be tested in the slot early, and if this one stays close into the third, a shorthanded goal or a late-game power play could be all the difference.

WNBA The game to watch tonight is the Dallas Wings at the Minnesota Lynx — two of the hottest teams in the WNBA going at it at Target Center, with Minnesota sitting at 9-2 and the Wings right behind them at 7-3, so somebody's taking an L that actually stings in the standings. The Lynx are only 4.5-point favorites on a 171.5 over/under, which tells you oddsmakers expect both squads to be putting up buckets all night. Earlier on ESPN, the Atlanta Dream roll into Chicago as 9.5-point favorites over a Sky squad that has been struggling to stay in games, so keep an eye on whether Chicago can hang or if Atlanta just eats them up from tip-off.
