New England RevolutionvsColumbus Crew
NE 3/CLB 1
Things to say
New England beat Columbus 3-1 on the road at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field.
01
opener
New England went into Columbus and just took it, 3-1. Revs looked like the better team all night. Crew never really got going at home.
02
key player
Dor Turgeman was all over it up top for New England, five shots and he found the net. Guy was a problem.
03
hot take
Honestly Columbus is done. You're 5-5-12 and getting run off your own field, that's not a playoff team.
04
deep cut
Wild part is Patrick Schulte made eight saves in goal and still let in three. Without him it's like five. Carles Gil pulled the strings, 77 passes.
05
exit
Revs are rolling at 11-4-7, so we'll see if they keep it up next week.
The recap
New England went into Columbus and left with all three points, running out 3-1 winners to keep their strong season humming along. Columbus keeper Patrick Schulte was under siege all night and racked up eight saves, but the dam finally broke and the Revolution found the net three times.
Carles Gil ran the show in midfield while Dor Turgeman kept firing away up top with a game-high five shots. For a Columbus side sitting well below New England in the standings, this one got away from them fast.
