San Diego PadresvsArizona Diamondbacks
SD 9/ARI 4
Things to say
The Padres beat the Diamondbacks 9-4 at Chase Field on Tuesday night.
01
opener
Padres jumped on them early and never let up. Nine runs on the road at Chase, that'll do it. Arizona just couldn't answer.
02
key player
The whole heart of the order was locked in for San Diego. Balls were leaving the yard and the bats were loud all night.
03
hot take
Arizona's manager went to the pen way too early and it torched them. That's on the skipper, not the arms.
04
deep cut
Padres put up nine but it wasn't one big inning, they just kept chipping. That's the scary version of that lineup.
05
exit
Anyway, both these teams are hovering right around .500, so this NL West race is gonna go down to the wire.
The recap
San Diego went into Chase Field and left with a laugher, hanging nine on Arizona to grab the series game. The Padres' bats got going early and never let up, stringing together enough traffic on the bases to blow it open and leave the Diamondbacks chasing all night.
Arizona's four runs were window dressing once San Diego's lineup turned it into a bullpen game and made the middle innings a slog. Getaway-day baseball at its finest if you're wearing brown and gold, forgettable if you're not.
