Carolina PanthersvsBuffalo Bills
CAR 14/BUF 29
Things to say
The Bills beat the Panthers 29-14 at home in Buffalo.
01
opener
Bills handled Carolina 29-14 at home. Never really in doubt. Buffalo put up a couple field goals early and just kept stacking points.
02
key player
Tyler Bass was money — three field goals, 33, 46, and 29. Boring, but that's how Buffalo built the whole lead.
03
hot take
Allen barely broke a sweat — 6 of 8 and done. This one was over before the starters cared.
04
deep cut
Watch the ground game — Ian Wheeler and Frank Gore Jr. both punched in short touchdowns. Buffalo just ran it down their throat in the red zone.
05
exit
Preseason, so I'm not sweating it — let's see who they line up against next week.
The recap
Buffalo jumped on Carolina early and never really sweated it, stacking a 13-0 lead behind Tyler Bass field goals and a quick Josh Allen strike to Keon Coleman before the Panthers found the end zone. Allen was surgical in his limited run, and once the starters gave way the Bills just leaned on the ground game, with Ian Wheeler and Frank Gore Jr. punching in scores to push it to 29-7.
Kenny Pickett moved the ball fine for Carolina but nothing dented that early hole, and John Metchie's late touchdown was pure garbage time. Smashmouth from Buffalo up front, 29-14 the final.
