Philadelphia PhilliesvsMinnesota Twins
PHI 9/MIN 1
Things to say
The Phillies routed the Twins 9-1 at Target Field.
01
opener
Yeah, Phils rolled the Twins 9-1. Never really close after the early innings. Philly's bats were locked in all night.
02
key player
Whoever's in the heart of that Phillies order carried it. When they're stacking crooked numbers like that, one through five is doing the damage.
03
hot take
Minnesota's basically playing out the string. That's a team under .500 that already knows they're not catching anybody.
04
deep cut
One run at home on a hitter's park like Target Field? That's not the offense, that's the pitching not giving them a chance. Bullpen never even mattered.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if Philly keeps it going tomorrow. They've got the better record, so I'd take them again.
The recap
Philadelphia came into Target Field and turned a getaway day into batting practice, hanging nine on the Twins in a 9-1 laugher. The heart of the Phillies order did the heavy lifting, stacking crooked numbers early and never letting Minnesota breathe.
The one Twins run was a footnote by the third inning, and their bullpen was just trying to soak up outs by the end. When you get down that fast, the whole afternoon turns into damage control, and Philly cruised.
