Pittsburgh PiratesvsMiami Marlins
PIT 13/MIA 1
Things to say
The Pittsburgh Pirates blew out the Miami Marlins 13-1 at loanDepot park.
01
opener
Man, that one got out of hand early. Pirates put up 13 and the Marlins just never showed up. It was a laugher by the fifth.
02
key player
The whole Pirates lineup was locked in, but the heart of the order did the damage. When you hang 13, somebody's OBP is carrying the party.
03
hot take
Honestly the Marlins manager left his starter out to dry. Down big and still burning arms on a getaway day, that's a white flag.
04
deep cut
The tell was Miami's bullpen. Once they went to the pen too early, PIT just kept stacking runs. One inning had the whole thing snowball.
05
exit
Anyway, Pirates finally look alive. Curious if they carry it into the next series.
The recap
Getaway day at loanDepot park turned into a laugher, with the Pirates hanging 13 on the Marlins and cruising to a 13-1 win. Pittsburgh's bats got into it early and never let up, working the count and putting up crooked numbers all afternoon while the starter kept them in line.
Miami never got anything going against Pittsburgh's arm, scraping across a lone run and watching the game get out of reach fast. When you drop 13 on the road, that's just a beatdown from top to bottom of the order.
