Los Angeles RamsvsKansas City Chiefs
LAR 20/KC 12
Things to say
The Rams beat the Chiefs 20-12 at Arrowhead.
01
opener
Rams went into Arrowhead and took it, 20-12. Didn't even feel that close. Chiefs couldn't move the ball all night.
02
key player
Ty Simpson was surgical for the Rams. 21 of 25, 190 and two touchdowns, both to Dean Connors. Kid looked like he'd been there before.
03
hot take
Nine points from Kansas City and it was all field goals. Butker's leg is fine, the offense is the problem.
04
deep cut
Chiefs had four different Harrisons on the scoresheet if you count both kickers. Mevis and Butker traded threes like it was a golf match.
05
exit
Long season though. Ask me again once the starters are actually playing full snaps.
The recap
Field goals were the whole story early — the two kickers traded chip shots until it was a 6-6 slog with nobody willing to punch it in.
Then Ty Simpson took over for the Rams, going 21-of-25 for 190 and hitting Dean Connors for two short touchdowns to blow it open. Kansas City never once reached the end zone, settling for Butker field goals all the way to the final gun, including a 59-yarder that was the only real highlight on their side.
Rams win 20-12 in a game where the Chiefs just couldn't move the ball when it mattered.
