Texas RangersvsLos Angeles Angels
TEX 4/LAA 1
Things to say
Texas beat the Angels 4-1 in 10 innings at Angel Stadium.
01
opener
Rangers took it 4-1 but they had to grind for it. Stayed knotted up until extras, then Texas busted it open in the tenth. Angels just couldn't push a run across when it mattered.
02
key player
Texas starter was the story for me. Got into his stuff early, went deep, kept the heart of that Angels order off balance all night. That's an ace outing.
03
hot take
Angels wasted a quality game. One run through nine? That offense is dead weight, and it's sinking a 45-74 club that's already cooked.
04
deep cut
Watch the Texas pen in that tenth. Manager didn't panic, didn't go early, let his guys hold the zeros until the bats woke up. That patience won it.
05
exit
Rangers are climbing back over .500 too. I'd keep an eye on them the rest of this series.
The recap
This one was a grind — Texas and the Angels sat knotted at a run apiece through nine, the kind of pitchers' duel where nobody could string anything together against the heart of the order.
Then the Rangers busted it wide open in the tenth, plating three off a gassed Halos bullpen that got left out there a batter too long. Final was 4-1 Texas in extras, and the Angels drop to 45-74 while the Rangers claw back to a game over .500 on a getaway day.
Not pretty, but the Rangers took it when it counted.
