Tampa Bay RaysvsAthletics
TB 10/ATH 6
Things to say
The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Athletics 10-6 on the road.
01
opener
Rays took it 10-6 out in Sacramento. Bats were loud all night, they just kept adding on. A's hung around but never really threatened.
02
key player
The heart of the Rays order did the damage — multi-hit night, drove in a bunch. That lineup one through five is just relentless right now.
03
hot take
At 72-46 the Rays are the real deal, I don't care what anyone says about the payroll. They're built to win in October.
04
deep cut
Wild part is the A's are still playing home games at a minor league park in Sacramento. Sutter Health Park, like 14,000 seats. Weird era for that franchise.
05
exit
Anyway, let's see if the A's can steal one tomorrow before the Rays leave town.
The recap
Tampa Bay went into Sacramento and put up a crooked number, hanging 10 on the Athletics to take this one 10-6. The Rays' bats stayed hot up and down the order, and once they built the cushion the bullpen just had to hold serve.
The A's put six on the board so it wasn't a total blowout, but they were chasing all night and never really threatened to flip it. At 72-46, Tampa keeps rolling while Oakland's rebuild slog drops them to 47-72.
