Boston Red SoxvsColorado Rockies
BOS 5/COL 2
Things to say
The Red Sox beat the Rockies 5-2 at Coors Field.
01
opener
Boston took it 5-2 out in Colorado. Solid road win at Coors of all places. Sox just keep grinding.
02
key player
Whoever Boston ran out there on the mound was dealing all night. Five runs is plenty when your guy gets into his stuff like that.
03
hot take
Holding anybody to two runs at Coors Field is the real story. That ballpark's a launching pad and the Sox just shut the bats off.
04
deep cut
Rockies are sitting at 31-49. They can't buy a win at home lately, and the bullpen keeps getting torched late.
05
exit
Anyway, Boston's hovering around .500 and trending up. Curious if they can keep it rolling the rest of this series.
The recap
Boston went into Coors Field, where runs usually come cheap, and instead won it the boring grown-up way, 5-2. The bigger story was the pitching holding up in that thin air, keeping the Rockies to two runs in a park where that's basically a shutout.
Colorado just couldn't string anything together against the heart of Boston's staff, and the bullpen slammed the door late. Last-place Rockies stay buried while the Red Sox quietly keep clawing back toward .500.
