Cincinnati RedsvsColorado Rockies
CIN 9/COL 6
Things to say
The Reds beat the Rockies 9-6 at Coors Field to take it on the road.
01
opener
Classic Coors Field game, man. Ball was flying all night. Reds just had more thump and hung nine on them.
02
key player
The heart of Cincy's order carried it. A couple guys left the yard and the middle of that lineup was locked in all night.
03
hot take
Six runs and the Rockies still lost at home? Their pitching is broken. You can't win in that ballpark leaning on that bullpen.
04
deep cut
Rockies manager went to the pen too early again. Coors chews up relievers, and that's three innings of high-altitude batting practice.
05
exit
Reds are clawing back toward .500. Curious to see if they can steal the series before this road trip's over.
The recap
Reds walked into Coors Field and did exactly what you're supposed to do at altitude — swing hard and let the thin air do the rest, hanging nine on the Rockies. Cincinnati kept pouring it on while Colorado's bullpen couldn't slam the door, and once the visitors got their bats going the heart of the order left the yard often enough to bury it.
The Rockies scratched out six but never really threatened after falling behind. Another rough one for Colorado, who drop to 40-61 while the Reds climb back toward .500.
