Colorado RockiesvsLos Angeles Angels
COL 8/LAA 2
Things to say
Rockies beat the Angels 8-2 at Angel Stadium.
01
opener
Rockies actually took it to the Angels last night, 8-2. Colorado's bats showed up early and never really let off the gas. Halos couldn't string anything together.
02
key player
Colorado's lineup did the damage top to bottom — heart of the order was on base all night and the Angels' starter never got into his stuff.
03
hot take
Angels are 23-39 and it's June. That's not a slump anymore, that's just who they are.
04
deep cut
Manager went to the pen way too early once it got out of hand — burned arms in a six-run game they were never coming back in.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if the Rockies can keep it rolling in the next one — they don't usually travel this well.
The recap
Rockies rolled into Anaheim and absolutely tagged the Angels, 8-2, in a game that was over by the middle innings. Colorado's bats woke up early and never let up, while the Angels couldn't string anything together past a couple of solo runs.
Halos manager went to the pen too early and the Rockies just kept piling on against middle relief. Ugly night at the Big A, and a much-needed get-right win for a Colorado club that's been scratching for offense all year.
